Today, we had the opportunity to discuss the future development of Individual Service Funds (ISFs) and personalised support approaches with colleagues from a London local authority.

The conversation highlighted the importance of collaboration between commissioners, providers, individuals, families and communities in creating support models that genuinely deliver choice, control and independence.

As health and social care continues to evolve, there is increasing recognition that people want more flexibility in how their support is designed and delivered. Individual Service Funds provide an important opportunity to support personalisation while ensuring appropriate governance, transparency and accountability.

Effective ISF models require more than financial management alone. They depend on:

  • Understanding what matters most to individuals

  • Supporting meaningful choice and control

  • Developing flexible approaches to meet personal outcomes

  • Building strong relationships between commissioners, providers and communities

  • Ensuring clear processes, guidance and support are available

At Empowered 2 Support, we believe that successful personalised support develops through partnership working. Providers, commissioners and communities each bring valuable insight and experience that can help shape approaches that work in practice.

We welcome opportunities to contribute to discussions, share provider perspectives and support the continued development of approaches that enable people to live the lives they choose.

The future of personalised care depends on collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to improving outcomes.
